Sergei Gavrilovich Simonov, was a Russian weapons designer and mostly known for his creation of the 1945 SKS Carbine (Self-loading Carbine Simonov System), he also pioneered the Assault and Semi-Automatic Rifle field in the 1920s to 1930s.
